I don't mean to be confrontational, cause it's your blog and all, but I've read a number of lists that have put the TV on the Radio album at or near the top.
What am I missing from this record? I've bought it, listened to it and just don't see the huge deal. Was 2008 the year that I became stodgy and (more) uncool?
Ah, but confrontation about music is the best kind of confrontation! People have strong opinions and yet, it seems less fraught than arguing about, say, politics.
Anyway - TVOTR. It isn't quite their first EP, but I like the sum of the parts - the atmospherics, the urgency, the transistions from cacophony to melody, the harmonizing.
The one song where they try to "rap" is pretty awful, though. I think I might just update my review to reflect this.
So what do you consider the "entry" song on the album. I'd like to give it a fair shake and sometimes these things have to grow on you. What's the track that will hook me in?
Track 1 (Halfway Home) is the one that really floored me.
After a few days of listening to the first track, you are right. It's really good. Now on to the rest of the record.
